Deconstruction

The Design Process class today was awesome! We were told last week to bring a garment that we didn't want any more or to buy something second hand. I brought this dress:

And today we spent the whole class playing around with it. At first we just used the garment as it was, putting it on a mannequin and not using pins or anything.

After a while we got to use pins to help construct the new designs.

And finally, we could cut things off, cut holes or anything we wanted basically.

All in all, we made 15 different designs, and we only had a couple of minutes to do them (on some, we had less than a minute). We also got to try and experiment with other's garments. I don't think I've ever had a class this fun before ^^

Michelle also did some really nice designs, but I only have pictures of one of them. Originally. her garment was a chinese dress.

Long time no see!

Yes, Michelle and I have been very busy, which unfortunately means that there haven't been much time to write in the blog. We are still busy (you might not think that sketch books really require that much time), but I thought that you readers have been waiting long enough.

Tomorrow we are going to the Yohji Yamamoto exhibition at the V&A museum. We are doing research on Japanese culture for our sketch books in our Design Process class (and I also have another sketch book on the same theme in 3D form). Exciting!

Well, I have to get back to work! We'll tell you about the exhibition tomorrow!

F**k the fashion

London Fashion Week is coming to an end, and to sort of celebrate this, Your Mum's House is throwing a huge party! Of course, me and Michelle are going! There will be free drinks, Le Corps Mince de Françoise will be performing and vogue's in house nail girls will do people's nails for free! I am seriously looking forward to tonight.

The party is called "Fuck the fashion", and clearly tells you to ignore the trends and just dress like you don't care or something, but I am still worrying about what to wear tonight...
